soap makingSoap making can be an arduous task if you don’t have the proper soap equipment.

If you’re making soap at home for a small group of people, there are many household items that you can use. Pots, plastic juice jugs, empty milk cartons, a whisk, a sharp knife, bowls and a thermometer are some of the at-home items you can use for your soap-making endeavor. But, if you’re looking to start a larger operation such as a soap business, investing in industrial soap making equipment will ultimately help you save time and money.

How will this equipment help make soap?

First, you need to know what method you want to use to make your soap. There are two methods:

  1. The Cold Process Method

This method is the more labor intensive of the two as you’re making the soap from “scratch.” With this process, you have control over the finished product.

You’ll have to first heat the oils you want to use to 100%. You’ll then slowly mix in the lye-water and blend the mixture together until it thickens. After it is thickened, add your desired fragrance and color. The mixture will be poured into the molds where they will sit for 24 hours to harden. The soap will need to wait 4 weeks to cure before it is ready to use.

  1. Melt and Pour Process Method

This is the easier of the two methods because you buy pre-made blocks of uncolored, unscented soap base. You don’t make the soap from scratch like in the cold process. With the melt and pour process, however, you lose some control over your ingredients and therefore, customization.

This method is popular because of its added safety, convenience and ease.

For the melt and pour, you melt the pre-made soap base and add in the fragrance and color. You pour the mixture into molds and wait until the soap is hardened. This soap is ready for use as soon as it is hard.

The equipment below can help your soap making company produce more product quicker and efficiently. The equipment is easy to use and only requires one person to operate them.

Mixing Pumpers

Mixing pumpers allow you to accurately pour in soap fragrance and coloring into the soap base, by injecting the fragrance 50 pieces can be poured with a 1 minute changeover to pour another 50.

Using a high-capacity wax mixer pump will increase your production in an efficient, cost-saving way.

These machines keep the base product warm and most come with a “wand” dispenser which lets you more precisely pour the mixture into the mold.

Diffuser Pumpers

Diffuser pumpers work great with unheated products
you want to put into your cold base product. You should look for a diffuser pumper that won’t rust or corrode with use and that has computer controlled circuitry to ensure accurate dispensing of unheated materials.

Wax Melters

A wax melter enables you to control the temperature and duration of the temperature at which your soap base and fragrances are melted. They provide fast, even heat, and insulation. Besides fast heat times, the best wax melters also have low operating costs and are easy to operate.

If you are starting out a soap business, industrial equipment can help you make more soap faster and more efficiently, while saving you money by cutting down waste.
